Technocracy -- An Environmental Economy?

Technocracy utilizes engineers and scientists to make it easy for people to follow rules. The technocratic ideology means that technology or flow oriented systems are used as methods for change instead of monetarily incentivising. This can be positive for environmental issues, because, for example, instead of telling people that they need to not use cars, government officials can make it difficult for car usage in urban areas.
Technocracy started as an economic system, not a political system. It was described as a utopian system, where every part of human interaction is subconsciously controlled by scientists. The people who came up with technocracy wanted to destroy capitalism. They said that the perfect economy would be based on energy instead of demand. This would take away monetary value and instead price everything with energy. This would work by forecasting the amount of energy that would be gained in a month, dividing that by amount of people, and giving people energy credits. Those energy credits would work similarly to money, however they would expire at the end of the month. You would price goods by the amount of energy it took to make the item. This would still be a price based economy, but it’s focused on energy and environment instead of capitalism. Technocracy economics would mean that people would have to be more aware energy.
Technocracy is “technology to control people”. This can be used positively, such as in ways beneficial for the environment. We can push people in the direction of using environmental technology and eating local food. Using technocracy we can make it easier for people to change their ways. However this also negates the need for ideals to change when it comes to nature and how we consume. As capitalists, we are constantly taking without thinking about the impact. With technocracy we could continue taking without changing our ways. We would have to think about energy cost, but the capitalism idea stays the same. This is a philosophy we can utilize as a society as we continue into our future of environmental degradation.
